Fashion designer Paul Poiret introduced the “Lola Montes” dress in 1906. It was also a time when sports and other leisure activities began to become popular and women entered the workforce, and people began to demand fashion that was easy to move around in. It was a revolutionary design that referenced kimonos and tunics and did not use corsets, which used to constrict women to an extreme degree.
